On the day of Mahadev's last rites, Dev is preparing for his final performance. He replaces the usual violin with a guitar and starts playing. The crowd outside is not surprised for this change in instrument because they know that Dev only plays at one place- Mahadev's funeral. People are patiently waiting outside, while Dev strums on his guitar, singing songs of hope and faith that he'll never forget Mahadev or their bond. They too can't help but feel hopeful by hearing Dev's music give them faith in their hearts to move forward in life without him by their side anymore. A youth comes out of the crowd and asks Dev for an autograph. He says he is only 17 years old and has no money to send his mother. Dev gives him 10 rupees for his mother, happy that he can help the family somehow. He also gives him an autograph that he will always keep with him for this life time. The young man thanks him but does not have any more money so he asks Dev to pose for a photo with him instead. The little boy, who looks about 6 or 7 years can't hold back his tears so he tells Dev "Shubha", the word which Dev calls himself- "Dev". Dev agrees and tells him to be patient and wait for the photo with his mother in their home. Dev thanks him and walks back in the funeral hall. He is aware of many people lining up for a photo with him in Mahadev's memory. But he does not mind it at all, for standing in front of them all, smiling and staring out into the crowd with no words to say is enough for him. He can't explain how much all his fans mean to him and how much they mean to Mahadev too, but no one seems to mind. A reporter comes in disguise as a woman and asks Dev why he gave 10 rupees to the young man outside. Dev says he was just being nice to a small fan, no harm intended. The reporter begins to doubt this so she asks why Mahadev always looked so sweet and innocent which Dev says is because he was really an innocent child. Dev looks at Mahadev's photo which is still hanging on the wall of the funeral hall. He then insists that the reporter takes a look inside along with him but she refuses, saying that "it is not for any journalist". Dev walks inside with the reporter and sees many locks hanging on the wall of his room. He cannot help but think to himself what Mahadev's life must have been like if he had lived to be an adult. He was probably forced to work in the temple. He must have wanted to get out of here but could never find the guts to do it, for he never felt like leaving his friend behind. Dev asks the reporter why she would want to know about Mahadev's life and what drew him all the way from Odisha to Calcutta. She asks if Dev is a journalist too. Dev admits he is a journalist along with some other professions, which makes her so happy she asks for an autograph on her notebook.
